On June 19, 2019, the Boston City Council unanimously voted to adopt a resolution calling on the state Legislature to pass the HOMES Act.

"Everyone deserves an opportunity to move on with their lives, but the scarlet 'E' of eviction records is hindering opportunity and economic mobility for tenants and deepening the housing crisis," Councilor Lydia Edwards said. "No one should be burdened by an eviction from twenty years ago, an inaccurate record, or a record by someone else who happens to share the same name. No child should have a housing court record from actions they had no part in." State House News Service, Katie Lannan
